Welcome back. Did I tell you that the ICEBUDDY has a mascot? It's a dog named Lexi, modeled after my puppy. My Lexi is more than a pet. She is a member of my family who provides unconditional love and companionship. That's why today's discussion will focus on the fact that when disaster strikes, our pets are at risk and they will rely on us to keep them safe. There is nothing I wouldn't do to protect my pet and I'm sure you feel the same way about yours. So I had to make sure that the ICEBUDDY was designed to safeguard them too. A lifestyle change we all need to make is to be sure our pets have their own ICEBUDDY, packed and ready to go.

Pets aren't the only ones at risk, what about all other animal life? Aren't they precious too? You might not know that if you consider the level of emergency preparation the government gives to saving animals. Think back to the last time you listened to the news alerts provide information about a storm that might necessitate you evacuating. Did you notice how little time was spent discussing what needed to be done to save the animals? When disaster strikes there is a need to evacuate not only our own pets, but also animals in zoos, farms, animal shelters, and preserves. Let me tell you a story you probably did not read in the newspaper. As you know, zoos have been entrusted with the responsibility to care for and protect all the creatures in their sanctuary. Hurricane Katrina was a devastating natural disaster that's threatened their existence in New Orleans. The Audubon Zoo found itself needing to ship it's sea lions from Louisiana to Texas in order to save their lives. And the Aquarium of the Americas located their penguins and sea otters all the way to California.

The process of evacuating animals is more than just an issue of making sure they have food and water. Some animals take medications requiring refrigeration and others require special care and handling. So let's quickly review how to use both components of the ICEBUDDY to make sure your pets have everything they require. The QOOLER allows you to write on it in permanent magic marker. Here is where you place the animal's name and any other important identifying information. When you lift the lid, you will find a built in removable food dish. When you lift out the food dish, you are now in the section of the QOOLER where refrigerated food or medicine can remain cool and viable for 72 hours. Remember, the QPACK top expands to carry the QOOLER. The main section of the QPACK gives you the flexibility of transporting either bottles of water or 120 ounces of any special liquid solutions your pet needs to consume.

The thought of possibly being separated from each other at a time like this is just unbearable. Pets are members of our families and deserve every opportunity to survive.
